During a prank, a student stuck a paper on his classmate’s back that said “๐—œ’๐—บ ๐—ฆ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฑ”, and asked the rest of the class not to tell the boy.

Thus the students began laughing on and off…

Came afternoon math class started and their teacher wrote a difficult question on the board.

No one was able to answer it except the boy with the sticker.

Amid the unexplained giggles, he walked toward the board and solved the problem.

The teacher asked the class to clap for him and remove the paper on his back.

She told him: “It seems that you donโ€™t know about the paper your classmate has pasted on your back.”

Then the teacher looked at the rest of the class and said:

“Before I give you a punishment, let me tell you 2 things:

First, throughout your Life, people will put labels on you with many nasty words to stop your progress.

Had your classmate known about the paper, he wouldn’t have gotten up to answer the question.

THE SURPRISING SECRET OF GREATNESS – #9292

August 23, 2022

The book is called Good to Great. It’s a thought-provoking book on management written by Jim Collins and a research team that he headed. They identified eleven of the most effective companies in the United States, and then they pursued this question: “What specifically makes these companies so different?” This research actually challenged many of the author’s preconceptions. There were actually lots of surprises. Interestingly, the first thing Collins and his team point to as common to every one of these consistently successful companies is this, and it is a surprise – the modesty of the various CEOs who led them. They suggest that the starting point of a great company is a humble leader – highly focused, sometimes driven people – but known for being gracious, self-effacing, understated. I guess in a word, humble.

I’m Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about “The Surprising Secret of Greatness.”

If you’ve listened much to what Jesus says about leadership, those recent “discoveries” shouldn’t be a great surprise to you. In Mark 10, beginning with verse 42, our word for today from the Word of God, Jesus presents what most people believe about being a leader – and then the truth according to Jesus.

He says: “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them…not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.” Then Jesus backs it up with the way He lived His own life: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

Jesus believes that you can earn your authority in people’s lives by serving them, by putting them first, by helping them succeed. And, sure enough, the most contemporary research only reinforces the importance of humility in leadership. The Good to Great authors illustrate their conclusions in this area with what they call windows and mirrors. When these successful CEOs do something right, they walk over to a window and point to all the reasons out there (especially all the other people) that are the reasons for their success. When they do something wrong, they walk to a mirror and they assume the blame themselves. Less effective leaders? Well, the authors say they do it just the other way around – when things go wrong they point out the window and point to excuses and explanations. When things are going right, they go to the mirror to admire the one who deserves the credit they think.

Whether you’re in a position to lead your children, or lead a business, or a staff, or a church, a class, a project, a ministry, don’t fall for the popular lies about leading people – that success means being pushy or punishing, pulling rank, playing politics, manipulating, promoting yourself. No, it’s humble servanthood that is the surprising secret of success. That’s humility as in always being teachable, and courteous, vulnerable, willing to accept responsibility rather than place blame; caring about the person, not just the project.

Former Attorney General John Ashcroft’s godly father tried to prepare him for life in the nation’s Capitol after his son had gotten elected to the United States Senate. Listen to what he said, “John, the culture of Washington is a culture of arrogance.” (By the way, most power-centers are.) He said, ” But the culture of Jesus is a culture of humility. Don’t get sucked into the culture of arrogance.”

That’s good advice for any of us who have someone to lead. Remember, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5).

Respectfully Submitted,

Fireplex

Harnessing the Power of Decision Making decisions and using your Personal Power, which is your ability to take consistent action, change your life. This power is already within you and just needs to be awakened by igniting your desire and by showing yourself some simple systematic strategies on how to get greater results on a daily basis. If youโ€™re dissatisfied with some area of your life right now, instead of getting frustrated, get exited. Because until you get dissatisfied, you wonโ€™t do anything to really take your life to another level. No matter whatโ€™s happened in your past or how many times youโ€™ve tried and failed, none of that matters because each moment is a fresh new opportunity. The biggest trap that keeps people from taking action is fear: fear of failure, fear of success, fear of rejection, fear of pain, fear of the unknown. The only way to deal with fear is to face it. Look it in the eye, and take action in spite of it. Itโ€™s not what we can do in life that makes the difference. Itโ€™s what we will do. Often, we donโ€™t follow through because we donโ€™t know what we want, and when we do know, weโ€™re afraid to take action.

THE ULTIMATE SUCCESS FORMULA

If you want to create success in your life, there are four steps:

  1. Know your outcome.
  2. Get yourself to take action by deciding to do so.
  3. Notice what youโ€™re getting from your actions.
  4. If what youโ€™re doing is not working, change your approach

WHY DOGS LIVE LESS THAN HUMAN

Here’s the surprising answer of a 6 year old child.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dogโ€™s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldnโ€™t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belkerโ€˜s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belkerโ€™s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belkerโ€™s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs’ lives are shorter than human lives.  Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, โ€I know why.โ€

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. Iโ€™d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said, โ€People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life โ€” like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?โ€ The six-year-old continued,

โ€Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they donโ€™t have to stay for as long as we do.โ€

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

โ€ข When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
โ€ข Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
โ€ข Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
โ€ข Take naps.
โ€ข Stretch before rising.
โ€ข Run, romp, and play daily.
โ€ข Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
โ€ข Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
โ€ข On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
โ€ข On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
โ€ข When youโ€™re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
โ€ข Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
โ€ข Be faithful.
โ€ข Never pretend to be something youโ€™re not.
โ€ข If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
โ€ข When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

That’s the secret of happiness that we can learn from a good dog.

Roll the Dice- Don’t Be Nice

We came to the BORO to roll the workout Dice, we had over 90 Squats! More than 3 Minutes of Crunches and named two FNGs.

The 3rd F was about the Book No More Mr. Nice Guy

Here’s some Key points from the book

Takeaway

  • A series of societal shifts have broken the bond between boys and their fathers.
  • Boys have grown up without a healthy male role model and have as a result adopted a feminized version of masculinity called the Nice Guy Syndrome.
  • Nice Guys force themselves to live according to a set of rules they have acquired in their childhood as a result of not getting their needs met.
  • The pattern goes like this: I have needs -> theyโ€™re not met, probably because I am bad -> I have to be good to get my needs met.
  • Nice Guys believe that they have to do everything well to satisfy everyone and get their needs met.
  • Doing so, they cut themselves from their core masculinity which prevents them from being happy and fulfilled.
  • They expect other people to fulfill their needs as a result of them being โ€œgood boysโ€, and become rageful and frustrated when they donโ€™t.
  • To recover, Nice Guys must understand that they have to put their needs a priority, change the way they think and act, face their fears, and express themselves clearly.

What No More Mr. Nice Guy Talks About

No More Mr. Nice Guy is a book written by the psychiatrist Dr. Robert Glover. It explains how societal changes have led young boys to hopelessly seek everyoneโ€™s approval constantly. They try their best to be โ€œgood boysโ€, get split from their core masculine identity, and struggle in their daily lives as a result. The book is a proven method to help men reclaim their masculinity and get the life they desire.

I noticed lately that I had a tendency to lack assertiveness, so I read The Assertiveness Workbook but I didnโ€™t find it good enough. I remember that No Mr. Nice Guy, which I read in 2017, was much better, so I decided to re-read it.

This book is by far the best book for menโ€™s mental health.

10/10. If youโ€™re a man and youโ€™re struggling in your life, read it (do not let the ugliest cover in the history of books discourage you).

If you have never read it, do yourself a favor and buy a copy. Donโ€™t read the summary.

If you have read it though, this is the best summary on the Internet (!!).
